Japan Day 3-5
Sorry for not updating on my rendezous in Japan. These 3 days had been a tiring expereince yet fun. Actually, we were going around Shinjuku, Harajuku, Akihabara, Kabuki-cho and Hatsudai.
To start, let’s go into Akihabara. We went into this building which has a maid cafe on top. But the best part is that this building has it own supermarket which we all bought snacks and drinks. Then I finally experienced being human sardines on the late night train rides. It was Saturday.
Harajuku is what I will call an oversized Orchard Road. All corners of the areas consists of major shopping brands and Japanese unique brands. For example, UNIQLO. It’s like Japanese version of Giordano except the T-shirts designs they offer are much cooler. A unique landmark that distinguishs Harajuku has to be the open space before Meiji shrine. Almost everyday, street performers and cosplayers will flood the place. So does the tourists who came to embrace the culture. And of course, the Meiji shrine which I prayed and bought charms.
Shinjuku. A place where it just gives the feel of City Hall. Major office buildings yet it’s also a shopping paradise. We went into Kinokuniya and were amazed at its selection of foods and grocery. Not a typo here but there’s a supermarket which has the same name. We did went up to the real Books Kinokuniya at Takeshimaya Times Square and I got myself a book to read while on the way back from Japan. And also, there’s an unique fast food chain which combines Western and fast food together. Maybe the first to do so, thus the name First Kitchen. On the menu, not only we see basic Western food, there’s spaghetti and pizza too. It’s also with a marvellous colourful skyline.
Kabuki-cho is not really what many think of it to be. Although it does have its orignality, yet it is almost like our Bugis Village. We went there to try modanyaki which lead to an almost-like-home experience. We went into a restuarant called Honjin. The staffs were very helpful when we requested them to cook for us. The homely part is that except the boss, the female staffs are from China. We were able to communicate. I wonder if my colleague’s friends are among them. LOL
Hatsudai..the only reason we went there is that the Square Enix shop is located there. The 1st floor was kinda cute as it was full of soft plushs. Action figures and games are also sold there. But the breathtaking part has to be the 2nd floor. Other than you can find game related jewellery to wear, there’s also a life sized Sephiroth on the floor encased.
Although Japan is a fun place to be but it has its own dangers. Time to anticipate for Day 6!!!
